Handpicked. Crushed and destemmed into stainless steel. Alcoholic fermentation with hand plunging twice a day in stainless steel vat for 7 days. Pressed into a combination of older 50% French and older 50% American oak barrels for 12 months maturation. Post MLF returned into same barrels for maturation. Alc/vol: 14.8%
Durif (also known as Petite Sirah) is a full bodied red wine grape that produces high quality wines with expressive dark fruits and chocolate flavours. Durif’s home of origin is in France and dates back to the 1800’s. If you serve it at a slightly cooler temperature e.g. 18 degrees, it will deliver more floral and mineral aromas along with Durif’s characteristic bold fruit. If you love Shiraz and other bold reds, then Durif is a must try. Fun fact! Durif is one of the deepest, darkest red wines with very high levels of anthocyanin (an antioxidant).
This wine is dark, dense and powerful. A mouth-filling pleasure with layers of flavour showing blueberries, plums and dark chocolate with fine grained tannins.
Matches well with a variety of dishes such as: eggplant lasagne, portabello mushroom steak, beef burghers, T-bone steak & BBQ’d pork.
